Shell began drilling Sept 10, but had to cease operations on the 17th due to an inability to ensure safety of the operation. This was due to a mishap with the safety device used to prevent extensive spills if a leak were to occur. While not a major issue for Shell, with the looming September 24 end of drilling season fast approaching, this year’s activities were stopped.
